Hello, I’m french, living in the south of France. I discovered your brand/work/art last summer in SF with DEBASER in Ministry of Scent (such a great place). I was instantly in love. Of course I tried it because of the name (Doolittle is one of my beloved album of my youth) (I am getting old), but I bought it because of the smell, this crazy green fig. Now, I follow everything you do, on Instagram and Spotify (love your playlists). I feel I understand the spirit of your brand, the freedom in it, the way you do, playfull and inspired.

But in France, it’s hard to get your perfumes, especially when they are new and if you don’t live in Paris. I would love to smell Big Sur Eucalyptus for exemple (been of this coast last summer too), but how can I do ? The french shop Nose or Liquides Imaginaires don’t have it… are you going to put it on french market soon ?

Perfumes have always been my « péché mignon », I can really be obsessed with them. Now I see my DEBASER being smaller and smaller… almost gone… help me choose a new adventure !

I’m glad to be able to share my thoughts here even if they are not really relevant (sorry), and if my english is not completely correct (sorry again).

Anyway lot of praises from France !

thanks for that! yes we do sell all our flagship scents in france. just takes a bit to get there w the new stuff. BSE will be there soon for sure. if you love fruit like debaser, you may dig Black Magenta. But if it’s the soft woods that calls in Deb, try Radio Bombay…

Thank you for answering ! I don’t really know what I love in DEBASER, I am not sure. I want to try Mississippi Medecine and Radio Bombay. And BSE… maybe I can buy a discovery set of samples from your online shop ! I love incense, woody stuffs, old churches feeling, with something else (Serge Noire from Lutens was so gorgeous I guess you know it, but now its price is insane). I keep searching…

I use to love perfume….had quite the collection.

Wore way too much! Now I have severe multiple chemical sensitivity….any chance you make old school perfumes from all natural ingredients! It used to be possible.

Most reactions are to natural materials - they are highly regulated (rose, jasmine, vetyver etc)- The body doesn’t know if chems are natural or synthetic, but it depends on your specific reactions are - i doubt all natural perfumes would be better for you unfortunately.

Excited to see what’s next. Love your I Don’t Know What mystery box. Brilliant way to package what the next level perfumistas say they want. Mass customization (but on a limited niche basis), so they can be unique and smell amazing with something NO ONE ELSE has.

Looking forward to seeing how it goes…

With all of the ways, people have tried to allow for mass customization, this one seems to have a real chance of making it. I think the secret here is that you have created a specific universe for them to play in. Creating an initial framework and narrative has not really been tried before. I think this idea has real legs!

I wouldn’t be surprised if this concept put you in the running for a FiFi award. 🤞🏽

Hey David, As a classically trained perfumer, yes 9 years apprenticing after 6 years of college (FIT NYC Cosmetic and Fragrance Marketing Program) I was given SO much by the team of perfumers who spent those 9 years training me. Across this journey I was given an invaluable framework of the principal aspects of perfumery. My own drive and my need to explore perfumery on my own terms is what helped me to accel at it. I do not see independently trained perfumers as being less valuable to the larger perfume industry. Independent minds bring unique insights and facets to the world of perfumes. I never tire of reading about perfume. It is what I live for. Let's discuss lavender. kindest regards, Kevin Verspoor aka. PERFUMEKEV
